What does Crossing Borders do?

Rather than starting our own projects, we usually contribute indirectly by supporting projects that work towards the same goals as we do. We also support initiatives that indirectly contribute by improving the framework conditions for children’s education.

Supported Projects

Crossing Borders has provided funding for nearly 300 small and large initiatives across four continents and more than 50 nations.
In general, we contribute indirectly by supporting experienced organizations with the implementation of their programs.
Though we have accepted unsolicited applications in the past, most project applications are submitted via our members and mentors. All project applications are evaluated based on a defined set of criteria which include:
  • Educational focus area
  • Experience of applicant organization
  • Presence of additional sponsors
  • Potential for future self-sustainability
  • Contribution to gender equity
  • Contribution to ecology/climate action
